*Take time to go to the library.
*Have books available in several areas- bedroom, living, bathroom.
*Keep books in the car for long trips.
*Order children magazines.
*Help them read restaurant menus.
*Discuss books they have read.
*Write notes to your child.
*Keep writing materials for them in a special place- pens, markers, crayons, and a variety of paper.
*Read road signs as you travel.
*Read store signs.
*Make scrapbooks, alphabet books, and picture albums with your child.
*Display their work, show your pride in their accomplishments.
*Help your child find words they know in a newspaper and circle them.
*Give your child a dictionary or create one of your own with words that are meaningful to the child.
